Getting Rid Of Danfo Drivers In Lagos

I was elated when I heard Governor Ambode was planning on banning danfos from all major roads within the state. From personal experience, danfo drivers drink a lot whilst on duty and have absolutely no regard for human life, other drivers and traffic rules. Even when they’re at fault, they always claim to be in the right never admitting any blame and then calling their fellow danfo members to pounce on the innocent driver. I’m so glad the Lagos state government has decided to cut down their numbers which I believe will result in a much calmer driving experience for other drivers. Also, chances of a commuter falling victim of ‘one-chance’ – where criminals use buses under the guise of being a means of public transport to rob people of their valuables – will come to a minimum. My wife once suffered this unfortunate fate. She came to collect some money from me at the office a few years back and on her way home, she got on a bus headed for Alausa but unfortunately for her, it was a one-chance bus. They beat her, collected all her money and phone and pushed her off the slow-moving bus at Ibafo (about 7km away from the picking point). She had to use a stranger’s phone to call me. I’m solidly behind Ambode’s on this move and kudos to him for doing this.
