Twins!!!

untitled-2

As identical twins born 45 minutes apart, living in Lagos is filled with wild, crazy and memorable experiences. As kids I was very mischievous and would always get in trouble with family and friends and my twin mostly paid the price because they couldn’t tell us apart. There was a particular time he was severely punished for something I did while I got away Scot-free laughing at his misfortune. But as adults, I’ve become rather reticent while my twin has the more outgoing personality.

We attended different universities, so anytime we visited each other, crazy things happened. On one occasion, I noticed a girl running in my direction looking very excited and before I knew it she was all over me, kissing and touching me until she realized she was being affectionate with the wrong twin. At random times people give us presents and cash gifts just because we’re twins. There was a time we both went to the market and the store owner gave us groceries for free, which is an occasional occurrence. For us, the most memorable moment has got to be when a lady picked us up in her car at the bus stop and offered to take us to our destination. During the ride, she asked us to pray for her because in Yoruba land twins are perceived as demi-gods. She said she has been looking for a child for years and believed our prayers would help her out. My brother and I were in complete shock as we tried to tell her we’re just like her, human, but she didn’t budge. We prayed for her just to make her happy after which we went our separate ways.

We receive prayer requests on Facebook from strangers asking us to give them twins. There’s no day we don’t hear the typical questions, for example ‘Are you guys twins?’ or getting weird looks from people trying to figure out whether or not we are. Often times we get asked how we’re able to be at two places at once which always makes us laugh. We both intend to have twins of our own in the hopes that they have as much fun as we do
