A few weeks back, I was in Ikorodu for work and I came across this young man in Sabo market. His charming personality and exuberance was what drew him to me and I knew I just had to interview him.
“My name is Chiderebere and I’m 23 years old. I was born in the East but moved down to Lagos a few years back to hustle. I’ve lived in the Ikorodu area since arriving in Lagos and I’ve been fortunate to have met so many wonderful people who have helped me one way or the other. Within a few months of being in Lagos, I gave myself a Yoruba name called Seun. I’ve always thought people who bear the name Seun to be great hustlers. It was a bit difficult to find my feet when I first arrived but within a few weeks I was able to start something of my own. I started selling clothes because I’ve always loved meeting new people and making them look good. Based on their physique and personality I make good recommendations to my customers and they’re always very happy with their look.
I am very proud of my job and it’s something I genuinely enjoy doing.
